February Travel/Study
Each year, a group of Gailer students travels to another country to get a chance to both practice their Spanish and to be immersed in a foreign culture. In 2007, the trip went to Peru.
In 2008. Gailer students will travel to the Dominican Republic. They will spend most of their time in Rio Limpio, a small village high in the central mountains near the Haiti border. While there, they will attend classes at CREAR (an agriculture high school), work in the gardens at CREAR, teach English to the students of CREAR, and immerse themselves in the daily life in Rio Limpio. They will also have the chance to learn about sustainable coffee farming and biodynamics at Finca Alta Gracia nearby, and will spend the last few days at the beach soaking up the delightful Dominican sun.
