Founded in 1989, The Gailer School offers a rigorous and innovative college preparatory program to students in grades 7-12. The Gailer School is ideally situated in the vibrant college community of Middlebury, Vermont. Gailer's dynamic curriculum is an interdisciplinary course of studies influenced by and named after Leonardo da Vinci, 15th century artist-scientist-inventor. Our mission is to inspire students to love learning and become insightful world citizens. This mission comes to life through inquiry-based classroom instruction and place-based learning.

ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR THE 2010-11 SCHOOL YEAR!

For the coming year (2010 – 2011), our tuition and fees are as follows:

Tuition for the 7th and 8th grades: $8,500.
Tuition for the 9th through 12th grades: $10,500.
Program Fee for all grades: $750.

PEACE THROUGH EDUCATION Gailer is hosting two Afghan students for the school year who wish to make their country’s future better through studying.  Both plan to return to serve their country. Contributions to help pay for their year here are being accepted. Call for more info.

AJMAL’S SHOES are being given away in Afghanistan! They were picked up from the airforce base just in time for distribution before the harsh Afghan winter sets in around Kunduz province, Ajmal’s home region.  Thank you to all who gave shoes and boots to help the Afghan people.

ACTIONS SPEAK LOUDER THAN WORDS: WAGING PEACE THROUGH EDUCATION  is Gailer’s 2010-2011 speaker series which will focus on individuals and groups leading the peace movement on a person-to-person basis. It will commence in October with the founder of HELA speaking about her project and the importance of educating Afghan women.

Real Democracy / Real Stakeholders

In September, 2005 The Gailer School was awarded a grant by The Carnegie Corporation of New York to encourage civic engagement, examination and expansion of democratic practice among Vermont high school students.

Thanks to The Carnegie Corporation of New York for providing the funds necessary to engage in a year-long conversation among Vermont and New Hampshire high school students.
